I had a blast performing on January 19th at Genghis Cohen in Los Angeles! We had a great turnout - Thank you to all who came and cheered me on! You were a fun crowd!
I'll be performing at Genghis Cohen again on February 16th at 7:30 PM. I hope you'll come!
It feels so good to be back on the stage. I get such a rush and a peace performing. It's like Chariot's of Fire - "When I Run, I Feel God's Pleasure" - When I sing, I feel God's Pleasure. I have purpose in it and it's what I want to do for the rest of my life!!
I love connecting with people by telling stories through song and watching them smile, laugh, cheer, or cry. Many people resonated with my song "Nails and Wood," which I wrote with Scott Bomar about the burning of Johnny Cash's house. We had no idea that a few months later, fires would consume hundreds of homes in LA and throughout Southern California. A few families attended my show who almost lost their homes in the fire. They said the song made them cry. I was so touched to know it meant that much to them!
Garth Brooks performed 5 shows Friday and Saturday night (1/25 and 1/26) to raise money for the Firefighters. He is such a humble man and a master at his craft. Brandon, my husband, took me to the Friday night show and we were floored by his performance, professionalism, and magnetism. He could say one word and the crowd went nuts! He made our crowd feel special, found a way to connect with us, and we left so inspired and excited! His songs are epic, classic hits that will forever be remembered and loved. He also invited Trisha Yearwood and Hughey Lewis to sing one extra song than they did on the taped show - AND he gave us a 30 minute encore, singing songs by his influences and the songs he wrote that each influenced. WOW! That's what I want to do - and will someday. Thank you, Garth, for continuing to inspire the dreamers like me.
